Great Wall XIII - Restaurant by the River

Our restaurant from the outside... well, the not-inside... the not-under.... er, well, from the bridge across the river. :D

Great Wall XII -- Lunch!!

Back down where we started our Wall hike, we went to an open-air restaurant and had a FABULOUS lunch! The dishes kept coming and coming and coming, each one better than the last -- we all thought we'd burst! From the left: Anja (from Poland), Petra (from Holland), Sharon (from my friend from work), Solen (from France -- and I'm sure I spelled her name completely wrong...), me (you know where I'm from), and Heidi (and you know she's from the same place as me, right?). Michael took the photo (and you know where he's from too, and yes, he was the only boy!).

Great Wall XI -- The End of the Wall

Think I may have uploaded the wrong picture with the last post (hard to tell, since blogger is so inconveniently blocked in China :P), so here is the *right* picture (I hope...)

Our tour ended here, because this part of the Wall is not in good enough condition to walk on it. You can see a road in the bottom of the valley leading into a tunnel through the Wall. Beyond the tunnel, there are trees and bushes growing on the top of the Wall and it's obvious Mother Nature is well on her way to reclaiming it.

Great Wall XII - Raven (Crow?) on the Edge

Looking down over the edge where Petra was standing, where only the birds dare go...

Great Wall XI - Petra

One of the members of our tour group, Petra, who is from Holland, standing on the edge of the traverseable part of Wall we were on. This is as far as one could go without risking one's neck!
